The 2026 Wild Ancient Tree Sun-Dried Black Tea is made from first-spring leaves of wild ancient tea trees growing in Yunnan's highland primeval forest, crafted by the traditional sun-dried red tea (shai hong) method — withering, rolling, full oxidation, then sun-dried instead of oven-fired. The dry leaf is dark and twisted with golden tips; brewed, a deep honey aroma settles at the bottom while lifted floral-fruity sweetness rises, the liquor glows golden-red, the mouthfeel is mellow and smooth with a pronounced sweetness, and the finish is long. Sun-drying keeps the leaf alive, so it slowly transforms in dry storage and grows mellower with age.

  1. Warm the Wares

Rinse the gaiwan and cups with boiling water to raise the temperature and clear the cold air, so the honey aroma releases more freely.

  2. Add Leaves & Smell

Put 3–5g of dry leaf into the gaiwan, give a few gentle shakes, and inhale the sun-dried honey and floral-fruity fragrance that rises to meet you.

  3. Rinse & Awaken

Pour 90–95°C water slowly along the inner wall, rinse once quickly and discard, waking the leaves and clearing surface dust.

  4. Steep & Serve

For the first three infusions, pour out in 5–8 seconds; add 5–10 seconds per later round, savoring the honey notes and the sweet, mellow aftertaste.

Tip: The wild ancient-tree sun-dried leaves are bold and rich. Use 90–95°C water and avoid over-steeping (which turns bitter). Sun-drying keeps the leaf alive, so it is best enjoyed pure to taste its honeyed sweetness; those who like it stronger may add a little more leaf, and aged for a few years the mellow vintage aroma grows.

The Tea Garden

Origin & Terroir

The trees behind this tea grow in Yunnan's highland primeval forest, mixed among broadleaf evergreens — wild ancient tea trees with trunks thickly clothed in moss, roots sunk into humus and mountain rock, never fertilized, never sprayed, drawing in the highland mist and the breath of the wild.

Picked only in the first spring, scarce and precious. The diffuse light and the day-night temperature swing of the old forest build the inner honeyed sweetness and floral-fruity notes — the very foundation of this wild sun-dried tea's "mountain-wild character."

The Tea Tree

Fresh Leaves

The wild ancient tree's first-spring flush — bold, plump buds and leaves, oily and vivid, with excellent tenderness. It goes through withering, rolling, oxidation and sun-drying: drying by sun instead of heat keeps the leaf alive.

This is exactly what gives the sun-dried red tea its "full honey character, keeps well, and grows mellower with age" — dried, not fired, so the tea can still transform slowly through the years, showing more vintage aroma the longer it is stored.
